Return of Climbers Continues from K2 Amid Harsh Weather

Pakistani climber Samina Baig has safely reached the village of Askole near Skardu after a two-day journey. Her brother reports that her condition is improving.

Five days ago, Samina had to be evacuated from K2 Base Camp due to health issues.

Heavy snowfall has created severe weather conditions on K2 and other high-altitude peaks. Climbers are returning to base camps due to the worsening weather.

The heavy snowfall is ongoing across the Karakoram Range, including Broad Peak and Concordia. At least two inches of snow has already fallen in lower areas. Many climbers remain on the mountains.

Among them are two climbers from the Italian Jubilee Expedition accompanied by high porter Nazir Satpara. They started their descent from Camp 1 last night and are expected to reach base camp soon.

Several other climbers have already returned to base camp, but some are still making their way down. The snowfall is predicted to continue for the next 24 hours, adding urgency to their descent.
