Awais Hanif, the country manager of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Bahrain, has been arrested by Bahrain Airport Security for mishandling passengers’ luggage.
According to Bahraini airport regulations, it is illegal to take any passenger’s luggage from the airport to an office. Hanif was reportedly taking passengers’ left-behind luggage to his office, which led to his arrest.
The PIA spokesperson has stated that the Pakistani Embassy considers this issue a misunderstanding.
The PIA administration is in constant contact with the embassy and is prepared to handle the matter through legal channels.
