PDMA Issues High Alert for Heavy Flood as Water Levels Rise

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a high alert as water flow continues to increase due to ongoing rains.

A PDMA spokesperson reported that the water levels are rising rapidly, posing a significant risk of flooding in downstream areas. In response, DG PDMA Irfan Kathia has directed the concerned administration to stay vigilant and prepared for any emergencies.

The Commissioner of Dera Ghazi Khan and deputy commissioners in the region have been notified and instructed to monitor the situation closely. The PDMA director general emphasized the importance of maintaining staff readiness in emergency control rooms to ensure a swift response to any crisis.

Disaster response teams from Rescue 1122 have been placed on high alert. DG PDMA highlighted the necessity of maintaining sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel to support rescue operations.

Authorities have been instructed to prioritize the evacuation of residents and livestock from affected areas. Additionally, the provision of essential supplies such as food, clean drinking water, and other necessities is being ensured at flood relief camps to support displaced families.
