Islamabad, September 14, 2024 – The government’s proposed constitutional amendments, initially expected to be presented today in the National Assembly, have been delayed.
Sources indicate that the absence of two key members, who are currently abroad, has forced the postponement.
Hamza Shahbaz is expected to return from France today, while Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri is arriving back from China. The amendments, which require a two-thirds majority in both the National Assembly and Senate, are now likely to be presented tomorrow, Sunday.
Parliament sessions for both houses are expected to be convened to facilitate the presentation of the amendments.
This sudden change in schedule has stirred anticipation, with the government aiming to gather the necessary numbers to pass the crucial reforms.
