Pakistan’s Babar Azam continues to dominate as the world’s top ODI batter, according to the latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday. Babar maintains a substantial lead with 824 points, reinforcing his position at the pinnacle of one-day international cricket.

India’s Rohit Sharma, however, has made significant progress, climbing to the second position following a strong showing in the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka. Despite India’s 0-2 series loss, Rohit emerged as the top run-scorer, accumulating 157 runs across three matches at an impressive average of 52.33. His consistent performances, with scores of 58, 64, and 35, have boosted his points tally to 765, placing him just behind Babar.

Rohit’s rise in the rankings comes at the expense of his teammate Shubman Gill, who has slipped to third place, trailing by just two points. Meanwhile, another Indian cricket stalwart, Virat Kohli, holds steady in the fourth position.

On the Sri Lankan side, Pathum Nissanka has also made notable gains, moving up to eighth place in the ODI rankings. Nissanka’s consistent contributions, including a total of 101 runs in the series, have solidified his position within the top ten batters.

Sri Lankan bowlers also made an impact in the rankings, with Dunith Wellalage standing out. His remarkable 5 for 27 in the final ODI has propelled him up 17 spots to 59th among bowlers, showcasing his growing influence in the international arena.

These rankings highlight the ongoing competition among the world’s best cricketers, with Babar Azam continuing to set the standard while others, like Rohit Sharma, steadily close the gap.
