The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a cyclone alert for the coastal regions of Sindh, including Karachi, due to severe weather conditions in the Arabian Sea. The cyclone, which has been classified as a deep depression, is expected to intensify and may bring heavy rains and strong winds to the area.

Overnight, Karachi experienced intermittent heavy rainfall that has caused flooding in several districts, including Faisal, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The rainwater has inundated roads, disrupting daily life and causing power outages in various parts of the city. Authorities are on high alert as the cyclone is projected to make landfall, with potentially dangerous conditions extending to Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, and Sajawal.

The Meteorological Department has warned of the possibility of the cyclone transforming into a more intense storm as it moves towards the northern Arabian Sea. Residents in these areas are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors during severe weather conditions. The department has also highlighted that the situation will remain hazardous until August 31, urging fishermen and the general public to stay clear of the sea.

In Karachi, Mayor Murtaza Wahab has been actively overseeing flood relief efforts. Emergency services have been working to clear water from affected areas, and the traffic situation is gradually returning to normal. The public is advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

As the cyclone approaches, the focus remains on mitigating its impact and managing the ongoing challenges posed by the severe weather.
