Islamabad: The government has imposed a significant ban on the use of social media by civil servants, prohibiting them from using any media platforms without explicit permission. This new regulation was communicated through an official directive from the Establishment Division, instructing federal secretaries and other relevant authorities to ensure strict compliance.
According to the directive, civil servants are now barred from using any social media applications or expressing opinions without prior approval. They are also prohibited from sharing any government documents or information with unauthorized individuals.
The directive emphasizes that civil servants must refrain from making statements or sharing opinions that could harm the government’s reputation or contradict its policies, decisions, or the country’s sovereignty and dignity. Any violation of these rules could result in disciplinary action against the involved employees.
The decision comes after observing frequent participation of civil servants in social media discussions. The directive clearly states that employees must not forward any content related to their political views and should avoid using inappropriate language concerning the civil service. Additionally, they are prohibited from spreading unverified or misleading information related to government affairs.
This move aims to maintain the integrity of governmental operations and ensure that all communication aligns with official policies and protocols.
