Today, early morning showers were reported in various areas of Azad Kashmir, including Gujarat, Hafizabad, and Shakargarh. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea are expected to enter the country starting today and will continue to bring rain until July 31. This weather system will affect Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir, with some areas anticipating heavy downpours.
In Karachi and Sindh, thunderstorms with rain are expected on Monday and Tuesday. Balochistan may see rain from Monday to Wednesday, while Gilgit-Baltistan is forecasted to experience rainfall on July 29.
In the capital of Azad Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, and other higher regions, light rain has already improved the weather. The Meteorological Department warns that from today until July 31, both light and heavy rain are expected throughout Azad Kashmir. Areas like Neelum, Muzaffarabad, Hattian Bala, and Haveli might experience severe rain, potentially leading to flash floods and high water levels in rivers and streams.
The State Disaster Management Authority has advised people to stay away from riverbanks and flood-prone areas and to avoid traveling at night. Tourists are specifically advised to check weather conditions before traveling to mountainous regions. The Authority has also alerted various departments, particularly rescue services, to be prepared for rescue operations in case of rain and landslides.
