Imran Khan, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has filed an acquittal plea in the £190 million case after the Supreme Court’s recent verdict on National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments.

The plea claims that the Supreme Court’s decision renders the charges against him void. This legal move comes as Khan faces accusations of misusing public funds and engaging in questionable financial deals during his time in office.

The case, which centers on an alleged corrupt settlement with a UK-based company, has gained significant attention. Khan’s legal team argues that the Supreme Court’s decision regarding NAB amendments should lead to his acquittal. His lawyers maintain that the charges no longer hold legal ground due to this ruling.

The accountability court, currently handling the case in Adiala jail, has adjourned the hearing until September 10, 2024. The plea follows the Supreme Court’s verdict, which upheld the majority of NAB amendments, reinforcing their constitutional validity. As the legal proceedings continue, this case remains a critical focal point in Pakistan’s political landscape.
