Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has cast his vote in the presidential election runoff.
Khamenei voted at a polling station in Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah in Tehran on Friday morning.
In a televised speech after casting his ballot, Ayatollah Khamenei urged Iranians to participate in the election, stating that a high voter turnout will disappoint the country’s enemies.
The runoff election was triggered by the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a May helicopter crash.
Reformist contender Masoud Pezeshkian and ultraconservative Saeed Jalili are competing in the runoff after emerging as front-runners in the first round.
Where none of the candidates received the 50% threshold required to claim victory.
