Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has firmly rejected claims made by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding consultations and potential resignations from assemblies.
In a recent press conference held in Islamabad, Maulana Fazl asserted that the PTI had agreed to resign from assemblies and dissolve the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) legislature. He added that:
“The JUI-F committee will finalise the future strategy after holding consultations with the PTI.”
Maulana Fazlur Rehman also mentioned that a committee formed by JUI-F, headed by Kamran Murtaza and including members like Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Mufti Fazal Ghafoor, Aslam Ghauri, and Maulana Amjad, would engage with PTI for further discussions.
However, speaking exclusively to Geo News, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan denied any such agreement or consultation with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
“We have neither held any consultations with Maulana Fazl regarding resignations or dissolution of the assemblies nor had any decision in this regard,” stated the PTI chairman.
Maulana Fazl also highlighted differences with other political parties and admitted a “bitterness” with PTI that he hoped could be normalized. He opposed legal actions against PTI founder Imran Khan and other politicians, advocating for equal treatment and the simultaneous conduct of parliamentary and local government elections, alongside the abolition of the caretaker set-up concept.
In his address, Maulana Fazl criticized the ruling parties in the Centre, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), claiming they did not deserve to be in power. He also labeled PTI’s mandate in KP as “fake” and reiterated his opposition to the alleged election rigging and manipulation that he claims occurred during the 2024 polls.
