On the decision announced by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on July 12, a review petition has been moved to the apex court for reconsideration under the reserved seats category. The petition was filed by Advocate Khawaja Haris Azmat on behalf of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

The PML-N petition says that if the Supreme Court judgment is not suspended, irreparable loss will be caused to the appellants. This appeal has pleaded with the court to set aside the judgment through which PTI was given specific reserved seats. Additionally, a plea has been made for seeking an early hearing that is also part of the petition.

The petition for review has been filed on the orders of the PML-N president, emphasizing urgency and importance over the matter. The PML-N, being a mainstream political party of Pakistan, has requested the apex court to fix the hearing at the earliest and review its decision in order to avoid further complications.

This development comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s initial verdict, which not only triggered huge political controversy but also caused a stir among the ranks of the PML-N.
