Shah Mahmood Qureshi, PTI Vice Chairman, emphasized that Pakistan cannot achieve political stability without recognizing the significance of Imran Khan’s leadership. Speaking from Kot Lakhpat Jail, Qureshi criticized the current government’s aggressive stance against PTI and called for an inclusive dialogue to address the challenges, particularly in Balochistan.
He underscored the dangers of labeling political opponents as “traitors” and reiterated PTI’s stance on the May 9 incidents, asserting that the party has always aimed for a peaceful resolution to the country’s issues.
Qureshi, who has been detained since the events surrounding the May 9 riots, voiced concerns over the government’s crackdown on PTI members, arguing that such actions only deepen political divisions.
He highlighted that Imran Khan’s vision for Pakistan is crucial for the nation’s progress and that any attempts to sideline him would hinder efforts to stabilize the political landscape.
Qureshi urged the government to engage in constructive dialogue rather than resorting to forceful measures, which he believes will exacerbate existing tensions.
The PTI leader also called for a reassessment of how the state deals with dissent, particularly in the volatile region of Balochistan. He warned that continued suppression of opposition voices would lead to greater unrest and instability.
Qureshi’s remarks reflect PTI’s broader concerns about the direction of the country’s politics, as the party remains steadfast in its support for Imran Khan’s leadership amid ongoing political turmoil.
