PTI Postpones Islamabad Jalsa Amid Tense Political Atmosphere

Islamabad: The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Gohar Ali Khan, announced on Thursday the decision to postpone the party’s public gathering in Islamabad. This decision was made on the directions of PTI founder Imran Khan, according to party leaders.

Azam Swati, alongside Gohar Ali Khan, informed the media that the event, which was scheduled to take place today, has been called off due to the escalating political tensions in the capital. The announcement comes after the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration revoked PTI’s permit for the rally late last night, citing security concerns.

In response to the revocation, the security forces have heightened their measures across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Containers have been strategically placed around the Red Zone, effectively blocking all access to the area. The Red Zone, which houses key government buildings, is now off-limits, with entry restricted only to government employees carrying valid identification.

The security situation has also affected traffic flow in the twin cities. Day 2 of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Cricket Test match is underway in Rawalpindi, and Murree Road, the main artery around the Cricket Stadium, has been closed to general traffic to ensure the safety of players and spectators.

Given the potential for unrest and the extensive security arrangements, the Islamabad administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in the city. The political atmosphere remains charged as PTI supporters await further instructions from their leadership.

The decision to postpone the rally reflects the ongoing uncertainty and tension surrounding PTI’s political activities, as the party continues to navigate a challenging landscape under the scrutiny of both the public and the authorities.
