Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has expressed his disappointment with the Pakistan cricket team following their defeat to Bangladesh in the first Test match held in Rawalpindi. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Raja did not mince words, criticizing the team’s overall performance and decision-making, particularly questioning the choice to field five pacers without including a spinner.
Raja was especially concerned about the leadership of Shan Masood, pointing out that the team is currently on a losing streak. “Shan Masood is currently on a losing streak. I felt, in Australian conditions, things are tougher and the Pakistan team couldn’t win a series there. But you are now losing in home conditions, against a team like Bangladesh, because you did not read the conditions well,” Raja said.
The former captain’s criticism extended to both the batting and bowling units, which he described as lackluster. “Neither did the batters apply themselves, and the bowlers were horrendous. Masood needs to improve his batting and needs to show that he has some knowledge of the game,” Raja added.
This defeat has raised concerns among cricket fans and experts, as Pakistan’s inability to capitalize on home advantage against a team like Bangladesh highlights deeper issues within the squad. Raja’s remarks reflect the frustration of many who expected better performance from the team on home soil.
With the second Test match on the horizon, the pressure is mounting on Shan Masood and his team to turn things around and secure a win to salvage the series.
