The Sindh government has initiated an inquiry into the Sukkur Barrage issue. The Chief Engineer and SDO of Sukkur Barrage have been removed from their positions.
On July 20th, after gates number 44 and 47 of the Sukkur Barrage were damaged, the Sindh government formed a five-member inquiry committee. The department has recommended the removal of four officials from their posts due to their potential interference with the inquiry.
Specifically, the Chief Engineer and Assistant Chief of Sukkur Barrage have been recommended for removal to the Chief Minister of Sindh. Additionally, Executive Engineer Ali Shah and SDO Amir Baksh have already been removed from their positions.
The inquiry committee is currently investigating the damaged gates. They believe that these four officials could influence the inquiry using their positions, which is why their removal was necessary.
Consequently, the department has acted by removing two officials, and the recommendation for the removal of the other two has been sent to the Chief Minister.
